"Can I use Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop instead?"

All of the step-by-step tutorials in the course use Photopea, since that is a FREE tool. If you already have a basic understanding of how to use Adobe, you might be able to watch the Photopea tutorials and then recreate the same thing in Adobe, although some of the tools may look different. The Chevron pattern is likely to be the most challenging to apply in a program other than Photopea. But if you feel comfortable enough with your chosen tech, then  go for it!
